Managing Director

JOB OPENING

An innovative, privately-owned and socially-responsible company engaged in the production and export of herbal products has the following vacancy:

Managing Director (full-time start date June 1, 2008)

He/she will be responsible for overall operations, staff performance, institution and monitoring of business systems with a good financial analysis knowledge, and will be the ultimate responsible party for ensuring excellence in all business functions.

Minimum Requirements for Position:
• Bachelor’s Degree (preferably a Master's Degree) with at least eight-ten years experience in management.
• Experience using PCs, Excel, MS Office, and email.
• Ability to institute systems and standards and to evaluate business progress.
• Ability to positively motivate and manage staff and flexible.
• Professional attitude, pro-active, detail-oriented, and able to lead with minimal supervision.

Position Overview and Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities:
1. Supervision: Overseeing business on a day-to-day basis. Tracking production, procurement, sales, communication, facilities, quality, timelines and finances of the organization constitute a very important aspect of this role.
2. Systems: Able to take this small business to a higher productivity and revenue level through the creation and institution of systems and procedures. Business has a strong need for standardized work flows, checks and balances and factory clean-up. Must be able to lead standardization of hygiene and safety procedures, environmentally-friendly practices and socially-progressive working conditions.
3. Evaluation: Strict monitoring of financials, timelines, and departmental reports. Monthly evaluation of operations and revenues. Collaborative problem-solving and staff support.

Secondary Responsibilities:
1. Human Resources Management: Maintains all employee personnel files in good order; oversees attendance; checks monthly payroll sheet against personnel records to ensure accuracy; maintains and distributes human resources manual; responsible for all hiring and firing including drafting and placing advertisements and arranging orientation activities for new employees.
2. Corporate Culture: Shape an appropriate business culture which solicits staff input, includes staff in problem-solving and treats people at all levels of the organization with respect. Engendering a positive and socially-progressive spirit in the work environment.
3. Social Entrepreneurship: Able to implement fair trade policies and procedures and knowledgeable (or willing to learn) about women’s and rural development and community enterprise. Ensure implementation of environmentally-friendly business practices.
