2. Camp Coordinator- One
The responsibilities of this position include: (a) facilitating participatory planning to implement RH campis as per the project plan; (b) leading a motivated and competent field team by effective supervision and coordination among team members; (c) ensuring proper management and implementation of the Reproductive Health mobile camps with approved budget within the regulations of the organization and the donor; (d) monitoring project expenses and managing administrative issues for the project and project team; (e) maintaining good coordination, liaison and communication between project and all its stakeholders at the district and community level; (f)ensuring proper documentation and timely quality reporting.
• Employment: Service contract basis.
• Competencies: BPH, MPH is an advantage; at least 2 year's work experience in mobile Reproductive Health Camps management, experience with mobile health camp project planning and implementation, monitoring and evaluation, leadership skill with good delegation, organizing skill, team builder.

3. Admin finance Assistant- One
The responsibilities of this position include: (a) ensuring proper documentation of all financial documents including disbursement/settlements; (b) handling banking transactions in timely manner; (c) maintains income and expense reports of medical supplies regularly; (d) assisting in maintaining data base spread sheet of camp records.
• Employment: Service contract basis.
• Competencies: Intermediate in Commerce or equivalent, Bachelor in commerce is an advantage; 2 years experience in similar field, knowledge of Medipro accounting software is preferable, understanding of Nepal Government tax rules, computer knowledge (word and Excel), and good interpersonal communication skill.

Ullens Education Foundation (UEF) has teamed up with Kathmandu University School of Education and Bank Street College of Education, New York, to establish an educator training institution known as Ullens Center for Educator Development (UCED). The goal of UCED is to bring about progressive reform in the teaching and learning environment in the Nepali schools by providing quality trainings with intensive follow-up; initially for school leaders but in time for teachers as well. The Ullens School in Khumaltar serves as the model school for UCED.

UCED has already conducted workshops for school leaders. As the UCED programs expand, it hereby invites applications for the position of Principal in Training from interested and self-motivated individuals with strong academic and leadership qualities to eventually develop, deliver and lead the UCED training programs.

After the initial screening, the prospective candidate (s) will have to participate in a 5-day leadership lab to be conducted by UCED in collaboration with Bank Street College in January 2009.The lab will be on “Processes of Supervision and Professional Development”. The final selection interview will be jointly conducted by the UCED team and Bank Street faculty after the leadership lab. The selected candidate will then undergo intensive training by Bank Street faculty and the UCED Team in Kathmandu and/or in New York to become the UCED Principal.

Lawyers (women) for Research

Advocacy Forum and International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ) is conducting a joint research on the impact of conflict on women, with a focus on gender-based violence in 15 districts in Nepal to understand the key consequences of the armed conflict on women’s rights, including their economic, social and cultural rights.

Advocacy Forum is looking for committed women lawyers for the study. The lawyer will work in close coordination with the project coordinators of Advocacy forum and ICTJ and other members of the research team. She will be responsible to contribute to overall output of the project in her capacity and will carry out the assigned tasks with integrity according to the deadlines. The duration of the position is for four months (subject to extension, if needed). Please apply by 4 December 2008.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal insights throughout the research process, including during the designing of the assessment tools, analysis of the information collected, drafting of report and case studies;
• Contribute to the analysis of the court procedures/functioning from gender perspective
• Provide legal insights while analysing the role of formal and informal justice systems at the community level in situations of conflict
• Provide legal insights while assessing the major issues and impacts of conflict on women’s access to justice
• Determine the profile of people that need to be interviewed in each district
• Travel to various parts of the country for information gathering
• Arrange and conduct interviews, focus group discussions, as necessary in various districts of Nepal for information gathering
• Transcribe the interviews and discussions immediately after each session
• Collaborate with the research co-ordinators and other team members to share findings and recommendations at different stages of the research

Qualifications

• Bachelors/Masters Degree in law
• At least 3 years experience in working in legal and human rights field
• Knowledge in the areas of legal or judicial reform
• Experience in conducting interviews and working with women
• Experience in providing legal aid for women
• Ability to perform well under pressure and willingness to travel to remote parts of Nepal
• Good inter-personal and team work
• Knowledge in gender
• English skills is an asset
• Knowledge of local languages will be highly desirable.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Migration Health Physician (CMHP), Damak, Nepal and supervision of the Chief of Mission, Nepal, for administrative matters the incumbent will be responsible for the public health activities related to the resettlement of the Bhutanese Refugees in Nepal.

In particular, she/he will carry out the following duties and responsibilities:

1. Investigate public health services and epidemiological surveillance system in Nepal. Establish a system of gathering information about epidemiological situation in the country outside of the Refugee camps, with the focus on Jhapa district and adjacent areas.

2. Assist Association of Medical Doctors, Asia (AMDA) and UNHCR to strengthen HIS system in the Bhutanese refugee camps for epidemiologic surveillance of important health conditions and to establish a systematic information exchange between AMDA, UNHCR and IOM.

3. Establish coordination mechanisms, information exchange and reporting system with related Organizations and Ministries.

4. Monitor and analyze the situation in case of outbreaks in refugee camps. Work with UNHCR and AMDA to design and coordinate public health interventions and advise accordingly.

5. In coordination with the IOM Laboratory Manager, work with UNHCR and AMDA to investigate possibilities of IOM laboratory support for infectious disease outbreaks and establish cooperation with the respective laboratories.

6. Establish an epidemiological surveillance, including database for the data collection, in the IOM Transit Center (TC) in Kathmandu.

7. Identify epidemiological and public health concerns in the refugee camps and TC and suggest appropriate corrective/preventive interventions.

8. Analyze epidemiological data generated through surveillance and health assessments, produce monthly statistical and narrative reports and recommendations on the public health issues to IOM, CDC and other partner organizations.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:


1. University degree in Medicine or Nursing.

2. Postgraduate training in Public Health, Epidemiology or Infectious Diseases.

3. Working experience: at least 3 years in the domain of Public Health or Epidemiology.

4. Advanced user of MS Office applications, especially Excel and Access.

5. Understanding of principles of data collection, manipulation and analysis is a distinctive advantage.

6. Knowledge of statistical packages is a distinctive advantage.

7. Ability and willingness to work under pressure in field conditions.

8. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Governance And Inclusion Adviser

This is a new and challenging advisory position that requires a creative and pro-active adviser. The successful candidate will work on developing analysis of and programmes for support to local governance and community development, and social and political inclusion. Working in close partnership with the Government and other donors, s/he will advise on how to adapt DFID funded programmes and projects to the emerging local political and government context in Nepal, and how DFID can best support achieving greater social and political inclusion.


QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:


i) A Masters Degree or equivalent level of academic and professional experience in one of the following disciplines: Political Science, Public Policy, Public Administration, Sociology, Rural Development, Economics, Development Studies

ii) At least seven years of work experience in local governance, community development or political/social inclusion.

iii) At least five years experience in project management.

Job Description:

To lead and operate different projects smoothly through analysis and conceptualization, team management, resource planning, etc.
Required skills and experience

• Minimum 5 years experience in web programming.

• Minimum 2 year experience in project leading/IT management.

• Knowledge of web technologies like DOT NET or PHP,etc

• Ability and eagerness to understand current development technologies and implement it in the projects.

• Ability to communicate with both technical/non technical people.

• Good communication skills with analytical and presentation command.

• Ability to write clear project specification and prioritize multiple projects.


It is very important for the candidate to have good web experience and client communication skill.
