Project Accountant

The Project Accountant manage the project accounts for Nepal and supervise the project accounts done by partners accountants in India, and Europe. He consolidates a global vision of the accounting status of all the partners. He is responsible of disseminating the EC Accounting Best Practices to his accounting counterparts. He trains the project team staff on these Best Practices thus ensuring to save time when collecting all the disbursement documentation especially of Trainers / Coach in the field. He ensures that the project accounts are ready for the European Commission annual audit.

Responsibilites/Activities

Learn / understand the EC Audit process and standards and adapt the EC Audit process and standards to local accounting
Develop an accounting procedure for the project expenditure
Manage relationship with PFN Bank and others
Supervise accounting deliverable of Nepalese and foreing partners accountants
Register cash movements in the GL for the project team expenditures
Analyse cash movements against traditional accounting and accounting by activity
Consolidate accounting by activity and traditional accounting
Reconcile actual versus budget
Do and follow-up monthly forecast (i.e. revision of the budget) based on the project yearly budget
Train other accountants involved in this project to project accounting best practices
Develop a monitoring module with KPI and economic analysis on the gap between actual / budget
Alert the Project Director when best practices are not followed or when exceed in budget is forseen
Create a systematic financial report
Prepare monthly and quarterly reportings to Project Director
Total recurring workload

Expertise

- strong educational background in Accounting and Financial Controlling
- senior accountant
- knowledge of the Development sector (NGO accounting) as well as Corporate sectors
- knowledge of International Accounting Standards
