Deputy Programme Manager

Detailed Job Description / Requirements:

The United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID) is working with the Nepal Government, multilateral, bilateral agencies and civil society to achieve the Millennium Development Goals through support that is consistent with the Government of Nepal’s development priorities.

DFID’s work in Nepal focuses on supporting the implementation of the peace agreement, helping to build a more effective and inclusive state and the promotion of inclusive growth. DFID Nepal is a fast moving environment that prides itself on being responsive to new opportunities as they arrive. DFID Nepal is looking for highly motivated people to fill the following roles:

Deputy Programme Manager

This is a high pressure job which requires excellent programme management skills to deliver high quality products while under extreme pressure, strong working across teams, and a pro-active ability to solve problems. S/he will ensure quality assurance of the design, implementation and monitoring of DFID Nepals’ programme portfolio. S/he will support the Head of Unit on improved aid management practices, working closely with government and donors. S/he will also provide good quality drafts of corporate reports and provide programme, financial and management information.


QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:


• A Bachelor’s Degree and/or minimum 3-5 years of working experience and sound knowledge of overall programme monitoring and management.

• Ability to produce good quality briefings, reports.

• A sound understanding of donor funding and familiarity with efforts to improve the effectiveness of aid is desirable.

• Familiarity with programme financial management and information systems is desirable.


COMPETENCIES:


i) Candidates must be able to demonstrate being competent in: a) Working with Others, b) Communicating with Others, c) Analysis and use of information, d) Planning and delivery of work and e) Decision Making

ii) Fluent written/oral communications in English and Nepali.


Located in the DFID office in Kathmandu, the successful applicants will work in a fast paced, multi-cultural environment that places a high premium on inclusive team working.
