Program Documentation Officer

Aawaaj is a non-governmental and non-profit social organization established in 1999 by the joint initiatives of professionals with strong hope to demonstrate capacity against violence and discrimination of children and women that come from socially excluded groups for increasing opportunities, access resources/ services, improving social equity and improving environments of existing system.

Job Title: Program Documentation Officer

Location: Based in Surkhet.

Starting Date: July 2007


WORKING CONTACTS:


• Reports to Program Coordinator

• The post holder needs to gain extensive information through analysis of primary or secondary information of Surkhet office.


JOB PURPOSE:

The Documentation officer is responsible for taking a lead in report writing, documentation and publication of Aawaaj's experiences. The responsibility in terms of three major areas: (i) Documentation of monthly report, learning, success stories, good practices of the projects, case studies and Publication; (ii) Writing Quarterly and annual Reports. iii) The post holder will have to play key role in developing linkages among field based staff for a cross fertilizing the learning and skills to each other, and S/he also needs to initiate the conceptual discussion around the projects with field based colleagues regarding success, concerns/ dilemmas of the specific projects etc.


PERSON SPECIFICATION:


• The person must be from Surkhet, Bardiya or Dailekh.

• Critical awareness on issues of sexual abuse and exploitation, and issues around violence of children and women and trafficking.

• Strong conceptual thinking and analytical skills.

• Excellent report writing, documentation, publication skills in Nepali.

• Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work independently.

• Ability to use MS applications and other programs in computer with good typing in Nepali and English Influential writing and presentation skill,

• Enjoying working with children and women,

• Team working and liaison skills,

• Willing to spend a significant proportion of his/her time in the field often in difficult situation.


QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor Degree in Social work or related subjects with at least one year experience in documentation, report writing.
