Requirements:

-Minimum Intermediate or 10+2 pass in any discipline from a recognized university/School
-Excellent communication skill in Nepali and English

-Must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel and E-mail
-Should be smart, healthy and willing to work under pressure

Project Officers

Mercy Corps is an international, non-governmental humanitarian relief and development agency that exists to alleviating suffering, poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive, and just communities. Mercy Corps works in 40 countries, and has been present in Nepal since 2005. In Nepal, Mercy Corps’ work focuses on disaster risk reduction; strengthening the value chains of high impact commodities along Nepal’s economic corridors; and, expanding access to financial services.

Mercy Corps is currently implementing a food security project in the districts of Baitadi, Dadeldhura and Kailali in Nepal’s Far Western Region. The project will simultaneously focus on immediate, safety net responses to food insecurity while promoting longer-term solutions through the promotion of high impact commodities and expanded access to financial services.

Mercy Corps invites applications for the position of PROJECT OFFICER (3 Positions) for the Districts of Kailali, Baitadi, and Dadeldhura.

The Project Officer will be responsible for implementing agriculture value chain development activities in one of the three Districts listed above, while supporting activities that expand access to financial services. The Project Officer will work closely with various stakeholders and beneficiaries; will ensure coordination at the community as well as at the market level; will work with project partners; will monitor project quality; and will facilitate the provision of technical assistance.

A B.A. or B.S. degree in a related field (agriculture, agricultural economics, business, economics, etc.) is required. At least 2 years experience with agriculture projects, value chain projects, coordination, and community mobilization is required. Knowledge of the Far Western.Region, strong communication skills, and strong organizational skills are essential.

The initial contract will be for one year.
